Hello 2020?

A year before I turned 30 I started a blog of 30 things I wanted to do before I turned 30. I spent the year planning adventures and finding joy in things again. I’ve decided I wanted to do that again. I decided to make a list of 20 things I want to do in 2020. I don’t know how this is going to work out or what will actually come of it but I need something to look forward to, something to help me find just a little more joy while learning just a little more about myself. Here goes nothing..

1. Dinner party with friends- this was on my 30 before 30 list and never happened. I’ve got a ton of instapot recipes that I want to try and most of them are way more than 2 people so let’s make it happen. But first deep clean of the house so that I’m not embarrassed to have others over.. ugh I hate cleaning.

2. Travel alone- also from my 30 before 30. This one makes me the most nervous because I’ve seen a ridiculous amount of Criminal Minds/Law and Order SVU but I feel like what better way to figure out things than a trip alone. Will probably be a day trip and somewhere not too far (thanks in advance for watching all my animals, mom and dad). Don’t know where just yet. Maybe a treehouse in a forest, maybe a hotel near a beach.. decisions decisions..

3. Fishing at Curlew- it’s been a few years since we’ve been down there. Curlew lake has a special place in my heart and I want to go again (that is as long as someone goes with me and does everything after I get the fish reeled in- dehooking and guts are totally not my thing)

4. Hot Springs- who’s in ? Let’s make this happen ASAP!

5. Use my passport- even if I only make it to Canada this year that will be a start to my world adventures.

6. Rent one of those bikes/scooters and explore the city.

7. Take a class- not work related. Maybe a cooking course or a pottery class ? I don’t know but I’m always up for learning something new.

8. Read a book  (or more) every month.- in the summer I spend a lot of time by the pool sitting and reading but I rarely read. Send the suggestions my way. I’ve got 1 started and the sequel to follow but that leaves many more books to be read.

9. Purge things- not a super fun or exciting thing and nothing to write about but I have a lot of baggage both physically and some mentally that needs to go. - I’m grasping at straws trying to make it to 20. 11 more to go? Ahh

10.  Pay it forward - I enjoy spreading some joy to others- so round 2 of one pay it forward/act of kindness every month. Heck maybe this time I’ll see about getting others involved to spread even more

Ugh.. why did I pick 20 things again?...

11. Be a tourist in my own state.. find some hidden gems in Washington anywhere between here and Seattle.

12. Travel to a new state - road trip anyone?

13. Weekend electronics free- this will be hard but I need to be way less connected to my phone, tv and computer.

14. Take a few weeks off from social media- I have a little bit of FOMO but I need more in person interactions-less isolation.

15. Do something once a month for ME. I’m cheap and often put everything and everyone’s needs at highest priority. So once a month maybe I’ll splurge for a manicure or my favorite cheap massage at Happy Foot- these aren’t activities that I have to do on my own so gladly I’ll take company!

16. Take time every week to do something fun with Aiden. We get so busy during the week with homework and most weekends he’s with his dad. I think this needs to be a priority if we’re going to both make it thru these teenage years.

17. Journal- find the good and write it down.

18. Participate in free art Fridays- there is a group out of Maple Valley that hides free art for people to find every Friday. I’ve thought about hiding a few things and just found a ton of ceramic tiles I had painted years ago when I was making and selling painted coasters so figured at very least I could hide a few.

19. Work on getting out of my comfort zone- say yes to things even when they make me nervous. Think this alone will tell me a lot about myself.

20. Go to bed on time (at least during the week)

Here’s to finding a little bit more about myself in 2020 and having a whole lot of fun along the way.
